The IEMH is dedicated to developing and implementing low-cost technologies in emergency medicine that can be easily learned and maintained. For example, we are introducing a new technique to rehydrate patients who are suffering from severe dehydration. We are using portable ultrasound equipment where X-ray equipment is not feasible. We are developing Internet programs to teach clinical techniques. Worldwide, our goal is to identify effective, lost-cost technologies to save people who otherwise would die from potentially curable conditions.
